THE Galaxy British Book Awards have grown in popularity since launching in 1990. The awards, affectionately known throughout the book business as "The Nibbies", are welcomed by the book trade, by publishers and booksellers, for the media attention that they draw on titles that have been published in the previous year.
Of course, since Richard & Judy got involved in the Nibbies five years ago, the Awards have taken on much greater significance, especially since the event is televisioned at prime-time on television.
The Nibbies event has turned into a fantastic evening at which the great and good of literati mix with television celebrities, sports icons and politicians, most with a common goal of having a book to plug, either in the past, present or future.The Nibbies also champion new writers, who are welcomed warmly to the event alongside the legends of literature.
